My practice was based in Berlin until 2002. In 2001 I was awarded through international competition the opportunity to collaborate with Glasgow architect Gerry Henaughan of Hypostyle on a major commission for the Gorbals, Glasgow. I enjoyed working in Scotland enormously and in 2002 decided to relocate here, and I have recently completed my new studio close to Dumfries. Over recent years my art practice was focused on constructed and engineered objects, these have taken different forms, primarily automata and chronometrics. My concerns in making these works were ideas of decay, ruin and the nature of time. As an Artist working mainly with the materials that surround me the geological past of Scotland has very much interested me and I am currently working in sculptures made of rock; with which Im now exploring and developing concepts of latency , relative time and the realignment of nature. These stones are a very significant development in my work. This new work takes my practice into different realms, creating objects by reduction rather than construction.
